Today’s post is different than most posts on this blog. Here is why:
I, Tom Gable, am a Master’s student at Northern Michigan University studying biology (more specifically wildlife biology). As many of you know I have a deep appreciation for the nature and it’s wildlife. My thesis will be on wolf-beaver dynamics in Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota. My fieldwork for this will start in approximately 1 week! This project is very involved so here is my very short synopsis…if you want more info please visit the link below!
Beaver can comprise up to 50% of the summer diets of wolves in boreal ecosystems (thats a lot of beavers!) but little is know about this predator-prey relationship. My goal is to examine wolf predation of beavers and gain a greater understanding of this important predator-prey dynamic.
I have been raising funds for my research through a crowd-funding site (experiment.com/wolves) and have raised 98% of my target goal. However I still have 2% that I have to raise by tomorrow if I want to get any of the funds! That means I need to raise $190 by tomorrow if I want to get the $6,310 I have already raised. So I am asking everyone who reads this to consider donating. If 8 people who read this donate $25 dollars I will be at my funding goal in a heartbeat! If a larger donation suits you, that would also be fantastic! By donating, you get regular updates of life on the project including photographs of wolves and other cool research related things! Please come join me on this wild adventure! Thanks so much! If you have any questions about the project, leave a comment and I will answer as quickly as I can!
