Orderly Continuity
“I stand by the river and I know that it has been here yesterday and will be here tomorrow and that therefore, since I am part of its pattern today, I also belong to all its yesterdays and will be a part of all its tomorrows. This is a kind of earthly immortality, a kinship with rivers and hills and rocks, with all things and all creatures that have ever lived or ever will live or have their being on the earth. It is my assurance of an orderly continuity in the great design of the universe.”

Quite captivating, Thank you so much for these lovely images !
Oh Tom, these are such beautiful images. A “a kinship with rivers and hills and rocks” is a wonderful thing indeed.
Lovely pics and a thoughtful quote.
The water from the stream practically leaps off the page. These are some beautiful shots!
Your pictures make me feel like I am there hearing the stream rushing by only to fall over cliffs. Soon I will be hiking in woods similar to this and seeing some streams and waterfalls. I can hardly wait as it has been several years since I have been in the mountains at this time of the year.
These are just lovely!
These photos are wonderful.
The photos are beautiful, and the quote is apropos. I would add this, not in opposition, but as a complement. Hereclitus said:
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”
Yes! What a beautiful quote. I need the forest every day. This told me why. Thank you.
